Agadir – Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has moved up 12 places in the 2026 Skytrax ranking of the world’s top airlines, securing 58th place compared with 70th in 2025.
The Moroccan national carrier ranked 58th among the world’s top 100 airlines in the 2026 World Airline Awards, according to the results published by Skytrax.
RAM also retained a prominent position among African carriers, ranking fourth in Skytrax’s list of the best airlines in Africa for 2026. Ethiopian Airlines took first place, followed by EgyptAir and Air Mauritius.
The airline recorded a stronger position in the regional airline category. Skytrax placed RAM first among Africa’s best regional airlines, ahead of Rwanda’s RwandAir and South Africa-based Airlink.
Globally, RAM ranked eighth among the world’s best regional airlines. Bangkok Airways topped the category, followed by Porter Airlines and Virgin Australia.
Skytrax defines regional airlines as full-service carriers that mainly operate domestic and international flights of around six hours or less, while noting that some carriers in the category also operate longer routes.

RAM’s 2026 global ranking also places it ahead of several major international carriers, including Air Transat, Oman Air, IndiGo and TAP Portugal in the Top 100 list.
The World Airline Awards are based on the Skytrax airline survey, which ranks carriers across different categories and regions. The 2026 awards include rankings for the world’s top airlines, regional carriers, cabin classes, airline staff, and other passenger-service categories.
The ranking comes as RAM continues to expand its fleet and international network, with the carrier pursuing a broader growth strategy that includes adding aircraft, increasing flight capacity, and opening new routes.
The airline’s 2026 summer program includes nearly 8.2 million seats, representing a 23% increase from the previous summer, with services covering 86 international destinations across Africa, Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East.
RAM has also been adding aircraft to support the expansion. The carrier expects its fleet to grow to 74 aircraft by the end of 2026 and 88 by 2027, while its longer-term strategy targets a fleet of 200 aircraft by 2037.
