Direct air link expected to boost tourism and trade
Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest network carrier, will launch a new direct passenger service between Addis Ababa and Port Louis, Mauritius, beginning July 12, 2026.
The new route will operate three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, expanding the airline’s footprint across the continent while strengthening links between East Africa and the Indian Ocean island nation.
New direct route enhances travel and trade
The introduction of direct flights to Mauritius marks a significant step in Ethiopian Airlines’ strategy to deepen regional integration and improve connectivity across Africa. The service is expected to support tourism growth, facilitate trade, and strengthen business and cultural exchanges between Mauritius and the wider African continent.
The route will also provide travelers with improved access to Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive global network, offering seamless connections from Mauritius to destinations across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas through the airline’s Addis Ababa hub.
Before launching the direct service, Ethiopian Airlines served Mauritius through interline and codeshare arrangements via regional hubs including Johannesburg, Nairobi, and Antananarivo.
The new non-stop route is expected to significantly improve passenger convenience by reducing travel times and providing more efficient connections for both leisure and business travelers.
