Ethiopian Airlines has committed an estimated $5bn to expand its cargo fleet, signing a firm order for eight next-generation Boeing 777-8 Freighters and two current-generation 777Fs, with options for eight more 777-8Fs.

The deal is structured around key milestones: the two 777Fs arrive in 2027 and 2028, bridging the gap until the $12.5bn Bishoftu International Airport hub opens in 2030, with 777-8F deliveries following between 2033 and 2035.
