Turkish Airlines and Corendon Airlines are cutting routes across Europe, the UK and Africa as both carriers reshape their networks heading into 2027.

Turkish Airlines has permanently removed 11 destinations from future schedules, including five African cities, while Corendon Airlines is cutting its UK departure network in half for summer 2027.

The changes affect travelers from London Gatwick, Birmingham and Newcastle as well as cities including Kinshasa, Libreville, Lusaka, Billund and Leipzig.

    Corendon Drops Three UK Airports

Corendon Airlines will reduce its UK network from six departure airports in summer 2026 to just three in summer 2027.

The Turkish leisure carrier is dropping Antalya services from London Gatwick, Birmingham and Newcastle, leaving London Stansted, Manchester and Glasgow as its remaining UK gateways.

Antalya will be served three times weekly from Stansted and Manchester and twice weekly from Glasgow.

The reduction represents a sharp reversal from summer 2026, when Corendon increased its UK capacity by 9% and operated from all six airports.

The airline has described the 2027 programme as a more disciplined approach to capacity following geopolitical uncertainty, higher fuel costs and changing consumer demand.

Turkish Airlines Permanently Removes 11 Destinations

Turkish Airlines is making a geographically wider network adjustment, removing 11 destinations that had previously been suspended temporarily.

Africa is particularly affected. Juba in South Sudan, Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Libreville in Gabon, Luanda in Angola and Lusaka in Zambia are no longer scheduled to return.

Billund in Denmark and Leipzig/Halle in Germany have also disappeared from future schedules, along with Ferghana in Uzbekistan, Kirkuk and Najaf in Iraq, and Turkistan in Kazakhstan.

Several of the destinations had originally been expected to return for the winter 2026-27 season or by spring 2027, but the latest schedule revisions remove them entirely.

Aqaba and Havana Delayed Rather Than Dropped

Not every suspended Turkish Airlines destination has been permanently removed.

Aqaba in Jordan and Havana in Cuba are currently scheduled to return from the week beginning March 28, 2027 at the earliest.

Flights to Esfahan, Mashhad, Shiraz, Tabriz and Tehran are also tentatively planned to resume from late March 2027.

Further timetable changes remain possible as Turkish Airlines continues reviewing its future network.

Two Different Strategies, Same Result for Travelers

Corendon and Turkish Airlines are not making cuts for exactly the same reasons.

Corendon is consolidating its UK leisure operation around three airports after a period of expansion, while Turkish Airlines is removing selected destinations from a much larger global network while continuing to grow in other markets.

For passengers, however, the effect is similar: fewer direct flights, fewer departure points and a greater reliance on alternative airlines or connecting airports.

The cuts are another reminder that airline networks heading into 2027 are becoming increasingly selective, particularly at secondary airports and on routes where carriers see weaker commercial or strategic value.
