Route Wars
Etihad Airways has signed interline agreements with Air Peace in Nigeria and Africa World Airlines in Ghana. The Emirati carrier is favouring local alliances to take on Emirates and Qatar Airways on the continent.

Long a marginal player in West Africa compared with Emirates and Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways is now fine-tuning its network there and making its major comeback. Within a matter of days, the Abu Dhabi carrier has announced several agreements, notably with Nigeria’s Air Peace on 22 July, followed by Ghana’s Africa World Airlines (AWA) on 24 July. The strategy allows it to expand its African network quickly without launching any new routes of its own.
