Ethiopian Airlines is expanding its network in Southern Africa with the launch of a new passenger service to Nacala, Mozambique, starting October 27, 2026.
The airline will operate three weekly flights to Nacala on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays using Boeing 737-8 aircraft. Nacala will become Ethiopian Airlines’ third destination in Mozambique, after Maputo and Beira.
The new service will operate through Blantyre, Malawi. Flight ET875 will depart Addis Ababa at 9:20 a.m., arrive in Blantyre at 12:15 p.m., and continue to Nacala, arriving at 2:20 p.m. The return flight will depart Nacala at 3:10 p.m. and arrive in Addis Ababa at 8:05 p.m.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said the new service would strengthen ties between Ethiopia and Mozambique and connect Nacala to the airline’s wider global network. “Nacala is a vital center for trade and tourism,” the airline said, adding that the new route is expected to strengthen the city’s economic, commercial and diplomatic connectivity.
The Nacala service is part of Ethiopian Airlines’ broader effort to strengthen air connectivity across the African continent. The airline’s January 2026 factsheet lists more than 65 African destinations, with Addis Ababa serving as the central hub for routes reaching cities across East, West, Central, North and Southern Africa.
Its African network includes major cities such as Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Kampala/Entebbe, Kigali, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Lagos, Abuja, Accra, Abidjan, Dakar, Cairo, Luanda, Kinshasa, Lusaka, Harare, Maputo, Lilongwe and Windhoek, among others.
Ethiopian has also continued adding African destinations in 2026. In July, the airline launched three-times-weekly flights to Mauritius, connecting the island nation with its Addis Ababa hub and the airline’s wider network.
With the Nacala service, Ethiopian Airlines says it will continue to expand connectivity across Africa and facilitate trade, tourism, business and cultural exchanges between African countries.
The airline currently says it serves more than 65 destinations across Africa and more than 160 passenger and cargo destinations worldwide.
